'Wind Wielded'
oil on canvas, diptych.

Currently showing at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London (2022)
Across two dramatic panels ‘Wind Wielded’ captures the essence of an extreme weather event. Like much of the artist’s work, the piece ruminates on the wider context of Humanity’s position in relation to Nature and the laws of physics. Despite dominion over the rest of the planet’s inhabitants, we remain at the mercy of the elements. And now due to the exponential expansion of industrialised civilisation, humanity’s presence on earth is beginning to further increase the volatility of the planet’s climate system. The title is taken from a line in Ted Hughes’ terrifying and mesmerisingly forceful poem ‘Wind’
David OM [AKA David O’Malley BA(Hons)] has been making international sales since 2008. His paintings have featured in the prestigious, biennial John Moores Painting Prize, The Discerning Eye, Sky Arts, Cork St and the Mall Galleries amongst manifold other exhibitions and media
The artist originates from the windswept Fylde coast of Lancashire, studied Fine Art in the Northeast of England, before moving to London where he lived for the majority of his adult life thus far. Prior to the pandemic, he left the capital for County Durham.
